8:00am pick up from your hotel travel by national road 2. It would take about 2 hours and a half. We will have lunch there at local restaurant or at mid way back to Phnom Penh and drop you off at your hotel.ย
Phnom Da Temple: A small hill (27 meters high) topped by an ancient brick and laterite temple, believed to be one of the earliest Hindu temples in Cambodia.
Religious Importance: Originally a Hindu site dedicated to Vishnu, showcasing Indian cultural and religious influence during the Funan era.
Notable Artifacts:
Impressive statues of Vishnu and his avatars (like Rama and Balarama), many of which are now housed in the Phnom Penh National Museum.
Architecture: Combines pre-Angkorian Khmer and Indian architectural styles. The temple is constructed mainly of brick and laterite
It’s known as Vyadhapura when it served as the Capital of “Water Chenla” in the 8th century, Angkor Borei founded in the 5th Century is one of the earliest Pre-Angkorian site in Cambodia.
Angkor Borei is a small impoverished riverine town surrounded by an ancient wall.
The local economy is based on dry season rice cultivation, year round fishing and raising the chicken and pigs that forage on the unpaved streets.
The modest archaeological Museum, a bit east of the road bridge , occupies a Khmer-style building set to open in 2008.ย
Features are locally discovered Funan and Chenla era artifacts including human bones, pottery, jewelryย and stone carvings.
